The warmest of welcomes to 2021, the most anticipated annual calendar changeover in our lifetime!
Despite some dire predictions, the nationwide property market managed to defy expectations and perform with remarkable resilience in 2020. According to CoreLogic data, dwelling values in Melbourne alone rose by 1 per cent in December last year.
The forces driving this growth are multifaceted. Mortgage rates are at an all-time low, governments are providing stimulus, borrowers are able to access money more easily, and, in general, consumer confidence is starting to increase. On top of this, banks are preparing to loosen restrictions on lending practices in March, generating more borrowing capacity for homebuyers and investors. A strong start to the year is expected.
